From Headmistress' Desk

The journey of 'Sarada Vidyapith' began on 1 May, 1995. The instituition made its glorious start adopting the ideologies of Swami Vivekananda and was baptized accordingly after the Holy Mother, Ma Sarada Devi's name. The new born instituition was bold enough to set off with only ten students of class V run by the Ashrama Praktan Chhatra Sangha, Narendrapur. My personal as well as official attachment with the Vidyapith dates back to 1998. At that time, the school was just a child of three years. But shortly after, it took to adding one class each year and it took up the mould of a complete Madhyamik Institute in the academic session 2000-2001.

The goal of the Vidyalaya was not only to inculcate bookish knowledge in its curriculum, but also to instill diversities in the learning process that would fructify all-round development of the learner so that they become responsible citizens and serve the nation. The result was a joyful teaching-learning process that helped in the manifestation of real talent. This institute also aimed at independent thinking of the students and to groom them towards respecting all types of work.

At the very beginning of my teaching career, I was blessed to have our respected Head Sir -Prof Sudarshan Das, the then retired head of the department (Mathematics) of RKM Residential College,Narendrapur, beside me as my mentor and guardian. The guidance and advice of the then Head Mistress Mrs Mili Bardhan helped me to think constructive projects for the school. Head Sir's ideas and plans set forth a big dream for us. We learnt from him the art of nurturing a sapling into a big healthy tree.

Inspired by the ideologies of Ashrama Praktan Chhatra Sangha , few teachers and people came forward with constructive ideas to develop the nascent institution. Our curriculum has been enriched by the teachings of honourable teachers and lecturers of R.K.M Residential College,Narendrapur. With the aim of avoiding stereotype education, the Vidyapith has included some extra subjects in the curriculum. Indian culture, Computer, Environmental Studies, Social Studies, Spoken English, Hindi, P. T, Work Education, Music, Scouts and Guide, Handwriting, etc. are some of them. The students are blessed to study in both English and Bengali versions in both Science and Humanities in the H.S section.

Different cultural events, competitions and sports activities (outdoor and indoor) break to academic monoton. Our vidyalaya also publishes a wall magazine- 'Arani' and a school magazine - 'Anandam' every year. These are generally conducted on classes V to XII, after school hours. The Vidyalaya also arranges for a common tiffin on Fridays for students, teachers and non-teaching staffs. The aim is to instill social values like sharing, togetherness and unity amongst young minds.

Among the various cultural activities of Sarada Vidyapith, the 'Vidyarthi Brata' event marks the beginning of each new session, is worth mentioning. After special puja offering to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi and Swamiji,a special yajna is organized following the norms of Ramakrishna Mission. It is a day of festivity when students, teachers, guardians and well-wishers all assemble under the same roof for a unique mid day lunch.

Our loving Vidyalaya has marked a stepping stone in the session 2020. It has crossed a silver glory of twenty-five long years. The journey. was definitely not always rose-trodden. It has witnessed undulating crevices as well as inspiring impetus from friends and well-wishers. Our Vidyalaya has earned yet another feather in its laurels of glory. The Education Department of West Bengal has bestowed upon it the honour of 'Best School Award' in 24 Parganas (S), considering its consistent outstanding results in Madyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations. This monumental achievement makes us proud forerunners today. Our students too, have prospered attributively in various sectors both at national and international levels. But we still have a long way to go. I earnestly wish to continue a never-ending glorious journey with our dream Vidyalaya with the grace of Sri Sri Ma Sarada.
